Privacy policy
In short: your audio, captions and history live on your Mac; this site only performs necessary operations plus privacy-friendly traffic and performance analytics.

Audio & transcripts
Speech recognition and translation are built on macOS on-device capabilities. Happy Ears does not collect, store or analyze your audio, captions or transcripts.
License service
On activation and renewal, the app sends your activation email, a hashed device fingerprint, app version and system info to the license service — never audio or transcript content — to verify the license and prevent abuse.
Site traffic & performance analytics
happyears.app runs behind Cloudflare. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics / RUM to understand page views, referrers, landing pages and browser performance metrics (FCP, LCP, CLS, INP, TTFB) so we can tell whether the site is fast, stable and useful. EU/EEA visits are included and handled the same way. The RUM beacon reads no cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB; IP addresses in beacon requests are discarded at the nearest Cloudflare data center and never stored in core databases or logs. We do not use these analytics for ad tracking, and they are never linked to in-app audio, captions, transcripts or license content.
Cookies & language preference
When you switch languages, the site stores your preference in a functional cookie (he_locale) so you don't have to choose again. Cloudflare may set cookies necessary for delivery, security and abuse prevention; none of these are used for advertising or cross-site profiling.
Diagnostics
Diagnostic logs stay on your Mac. We only see them if you export and send them to us yourself.
Automatic updates
The app checks for updates via Sparkle, served through Cloudflare.
